Different ways to wear novelty/goofy t-shirts?

Postby EmSquared » Sun Jul 01, 2012 1:29 pm

Hey guys!
I wear A LOT of novelty(or goofy) t-shirts. You know, the kind with the funny writing or cartoons or whatever. And I love them to pieces. :geek: The only problem is, I only ever wear them with jeans - because that's the only way I know how to wear them.
But I want to know if there are different ways to wear them. With skirts? Tucked in shorts? With a denim shirt?
If you guys have any ideas I would LOVE to hear them! There's not particular style I'm going for so have fun with it!
Thanks, Em.

I think tucking is awesome and there's a few different ways to do it: just in the front, in one of your back pockets or all the way. Wearing t-shirts with longer skirts is also cool but the fabric of the shirt needs to be softer and able to flow well with the skirt (unless you tuck it in). Accessorizing helps a lot too- like a weird necklace that is just as goofy as your shirts or something fancier to contrast them.

Not sure if this is the kind of advice you need so im putting it last but I personally cut and mod my t-shirts all the time and it is actually really fun so if you like the pictures on your s--t but wanna spice things up i totally recommend modification! If you haven't done it you can start with something simple like cutting the neck line wider so it hangs over one shoulder or shortening the t-shirt to mid riff, or cutting the sleeves off. You can also make awesome skirts from bigger s--t and its a good way to recycle your old stuff:}

it looks like im saying s*it but its T-SHIRT so idk why it appears like s--t.....

I agree with wolf about altering the shirts! I think that's a really fun way to mix it up. I like wearing a comfy graphic tee but then keeping everything else really polished like a blazer, * jeans, boots, etc.

I wear big band t-shirts or goofy t-shirts with short shorts (either denim with a scarf as a belt, or a really awesome psychedelic pair that I love!) and tights (either black, brightly coloured or patterned, I horde tights by the dozens.) and it looks pretty cute, plus doesn't take long to put together at all! I also have a really cute pair of stripy dungaree shorts from New Look that I wear tees underneath which also works really well :)

Tucking, indeed! And maybe if it's a bit oversized, you could cut it to make it a little different...

There are many different ways ^^

You could also wear a checkered or a denim shirt over it.

It is interesting to observe the people who wear funny tee shirts, and when they wear them. Some people are very comfortable wearing a funny shirt anywhere, anytime. Other people are rather more reserved and will wear a novelty tee shirt at a party, or during a holiday festivity.
