Bangs

Postby eliteflo » Wed Apr 11, 2012 4:56 am

I'm really new here, so first of all, hi!

I really feel like changing my hair style and I've been thinking of trying bangs. Does it have to be high maintenance? i hardly have time to sleep these days anyway, so i don't have time to style my hair in the morning or anything... so i'm not sure it will be a good idea...

what do you say?

First of all WELCOME!!
I have curly hair and always wanted bangs but never did the style change becuase I think it's high maintenance (at least for my type of hair).
I guss it really depends on your hair

I have VERY thick wavy hair, and recently got bangs on for a switch.

Well, wavy bangs make me look crazy, flipping up and sticking out in all the wrong directions like I'm hiding a conversation scar or just got released from a "nervous" hospital. .

SOLUTION: After washing your hair, take a thick paper towel (VIVA brand works best) and roll (just your bangs) around the towel and tie it closed, (like the old way of rag tied curls). Let your bangs air dry while watching TV before beddie bye. The towel absorbs the moisture, and speeds things along. When you unroll it, (Don't brush it out yet, wait until morning), and then you'll have a somewhat tight and silky turned under bang that will relax and brush out neatly.
No curling iron needed, no flat iron, no drying hair with blow dryer.

Don't give up, just train your bangs with a little love and a little papertowel.

If you have curly or wavy hair its going to be high maintenance for sure.
I have thick curly hair and i got bangs, they stick up and curl up after a nights sleep or a wash.
but i also have long hair and i straighten it alot. i usually dry my bangs with a blow dryer and use a brush to smooth it out
then i take the flat iron and give it a little "omph" ... but i then usually wear a stretchy headband around it, like a hippy look. and this is just to make them flat cause i have thick hair... yea its work but i love em :)
anyone know who Katy Goodman is?? from la sera, vivian girls?? i get my bangs to look just like hers

..and im actually getting a haircut today, its been over a year since my last cut :x
my poor locks deserve it i know haha... i have really long hair and i just love hiding in it haha

I think bangs are quite fashionable. They really look good on some people, I tried it a few months back but it didn't really suit me. I guess there is only one way to find out :)

I had bangs for a good few months (until a couple of months ago when I chopped all of my hair off). I found that as long as I towel dried and brushed my hair the SECOND I was out of the shower/done washing it, it was fine, but if I left it too long without brushing it would look bizarre :( Not high maintenance at all until that point!

try starting with longer side swept bangs, much easier to maintain

It really depends on your type of hair. I usually blow dry my bangs with a round brush and after that I straighten it and it just looks good, I've got wavy/curly thick hair.
And if you don't feel like blowdrying it, you can pin them to the sides with bobby pins and just leave them to dry while you sleep, and then straighten them. But don't dry them without pinning them because straightening will be more difficult then.
