Need hair tips for bridesmaid hair?

I am in a wedding this next month and my bride wants all of the girls to have updos. I am looking to save a bit of money, and so I don't plan on having it professionally done (actually, I think none of the girls are, not even the bride). I have long straight hair and not a lot of skill when it comes to styling hair. I do have a bff (same hair type) who is also a bridesmaid and we are thinking that at least we could do eachother's hair. Do any of you know a good link to a hair styling blog or video how-tos for updos (or just general tips would be appreciated). Thank you so much for any help you might be able to provide!
