I don't if this story has reached most of you but it has caused quite a stir in the UK.
Samantha Brick, A writer for the Daily Mail (a right wing aligned newspaper) wrote an article entitled "Why woman hate me for being beautiful"
In the article she mentions that countless numbers of male strangers have bought stuff just because they saw her face and were astounded by her beauty. I personally find this hard to believe, except perhaps if she were in a bar/nightclub scenario, but shes talking about walking down the street and men handed her random bunches of flowers or buying her train tickets. Seems a little weird to me.
This didn't bother me at all; I've been with friends who have been approached by men because they're hot, but what really got me riled is that she presumes that all women hate her because she is beautiful. It's seems to me that she has some serious personality flaws and is using her beauty as an excuse for the reason why some women may hate her. I'm sure most of you have friends you consider beautiful but I doubt you all hate them because of it!
On the other hand I had a friend who got a lot of male attention, and it was no surprise because she looks like Cameron Diaz. I never resented her for it in the slightest. But there were a few things I began to notice about her, she would brush off any suggestions other people would have of things to do, she would put taboos on me if I attempted to talk about something she wasn't interested in and when I refused to help her make the life of her ex boyfriends new girlfriend a living hell, she completely turned on me and made my life a living hell. Now I wouldn't go so far to say I hate her, but I really dislike her, and its not because of her looks. It's because she felt she could treat people like crap BECAUSE of her looks. And to me it seems like Samantha is just another Brick in the wall of women like this (sorry, couldn't resist).
The link to the article is below, but before you read it please remember that not every woman in the UK is:
a) As drop dead beautiful as Samantha Brick (brace yourself)
b) As conceited and presumptious as Samantha Brick
so, women of HelloGiggles, please don't hate us all for either reason
