I want to join a book club

Postby hannahhb123 » Tue Feb 28, 2012 8:17 pm

I have been obsessed with books lately. I just feel so studious when I'm reading. I just finished the Hunger Games and absolutely loved it. I really want to be in a book club. Does anyone do that anymore?

There was a sort of fledgling book club on these forums that unfortunately died. :( Hopefully someday it'll come back to life! If you're interested in joining a IRL book club people definitely still have meetings. I would suggest starting with your local independent bookstore. If you don't have a local independent bookstore then sometimes Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, etc will sponsor one too.

I am a member of the Twitter bookclub and they choose great books. They are slightly more advanced than regular YA books but its worth a chance to check it out. You can find it on twitter at *.

Oh bummer re the Book Club not really taking off. I saw the note about a book club in the weekly giggles email and came straight online to find it. My local library finally started offering a book club in the evening so I joined straight away 'cause I work long office hours so meetings during the day don't work for me. I've met some nice people (ladies) with really interesting perspectives, but they're all about 15 - 20 years older than me (I'm 32) so we have a nice dynamic but don't super-click exactly! If you foray in to HelloGiggles book club world again (and I somehow magically find out about it... can I track updates on a forum? hm...) then I'm SO in! :D
