Forum Chatter: Closing Ceremony, Fun Reads & 90's Bands
Chrissa Hardy

Hey guys!

Closing Ceremony
Can you believe we have less than a week left for the Olympics?! I’ve had such a blast watching these games and cheering for Team USA. We really are a talented bunch. I wrote a piece about Gabby Douglas last week after she won the gold and one of the comments I received left me beaming with American pride.

“The truth is that I’m not an American. I’ve been to the USA a couple of times on vacations, for short periods of time. I have friends who live there, but that’s it. I am not an American, but when I see your gymnastic team, and Gabby, and Phelps, and Lochte, and Missy I feel happy, happy for you guys, and I wanna celebrate with you guys and share the victories. So…good for you! I can’t imagine how proud you must be. An athlete from my country won our first gold medal in like forty years and I cried like a baby! I jumped up and down, I sang the National Anthem with all my heart…so, I can´t imagine what it must feel like to have so many good teams over there at the Olympics! Seriously, Congrats!”

Airam, thank you so much for your kind words. We are very fortunate to have so many incredible athletes represent our country.

The closing ceremony for the Olympics will air on August 12th. Are you guys going to celebrate? My friends in the forum are talking about The Spice Girls performing! Wow, just…..OMG. I’m so excited for that, I have no words.

Do you guys have any Olympic-themed party tips? Let’s share ideas!

I dont know about anybody else, but this is when music was happening…and some of the 80s-punk anyway. But the music from the 90s was like AWESOME!
Favorites:
Nirvana
Foo Fighters
No Doubt
Cranberries
Hole
Enon
Garbage
Fiona Apple
Pearl Jam…help me out…

90′s music gave us grunge, swoon-worthy boy bands, girl power, Jock Jams (yeah, remember those?!) and amazingly hideous dance moves. Join the conversation and share your favorites!

  1. Connect with Facebook to post a commentI LOVE and sometimes miss the 90s dearly. In fact a few of my friends attended a concert this year which celebrated the 90s: Summerland. It was put together by the lead singers of Sugar Ray and Everclear and featured Lit, Marcy Playgrounf, and the Gin Blossoms. They said that hopefully they will tour every year and expand to more of our favorite 90s bands. It was nearly 5 hours of pure nostalgia magic and I loved it!

  2. I LOVE 90s tunes! Fav bands: Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails (Trent and I are serious, he just doesn’t know it), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bush (Gavin Rossdale, swoon), No Doubt, Stone Temple Pilots, KoRn, Alice in Chains, U2, Live, Soundgarden (Chris Cornell yum)and Orgy (think their cover of Blue Monday was epic, so was their look).
Jock Jams rocks and so does MTV Party To Go. BTW: who didn’t want to look like 90s Janet Jackson?
On another note: I dressed up as Scary Spice once.
