Cocktail Confidential Espresso Infused Vodka Claire Lassam

Let’s get real here: I’m not the vodka type. I love bourbon in a very real way. It’s got so much to offer; it’s darker, deeper, richer, smokier, vanilla-ier. If you spend enough to get the good stuff, it’s almost dense with flavor.

Vodka, even the good stuff, has never had much of an appeal. It’s trying to taste like nothing, right? The good, crisp, clear stuff… isn’t the point that you hardly notice it? I’m sure there are lots of people who know lots more than I about vodka who disagree, and I don’t want to fight, honestly. It’s just not for me… Unless that vodka is infused with either blueberries or espresso, because in that case, I love the stuff.

So here’s how to make the espresso vodka at home. It’s crazy easy to do, it feels fancy because you’ve made it, and it’s way lower in sugar than the store bought kind. Win-win, right?

  • 2 cups vodka
  • 4 heaping Tbsp ground espresso beans
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Mix all the ingredients in a jar. Shake gently. Let sit for 5 days, then strain through a coffee filter or in a French press.
