Episode 73: Ryane and Sara ‘Nancy Drew' (Tuscadero)

Ryane (it’s Ryan with an “e”), and Sara (without an “h”) have been friends since the early ’90s when they discovered their mutual inclination for poor fashion choices and even worse dance abilities.  They grew up in a suburb of New Jersey where leisure activities were reduced to a 24 hour Dunkin Donuts or writing, producing, directing and acting in home movies using a camcorder that needed to be plugged in at all times. They choose the latter (which years later, Ryane would tape over with hours of Charles in Charge probably, and has been forever disgraced for doing so) and compiled an assortment of skits complete with song and dance routines, attempts at comedy and bad impersonations. The girls still reside in New Jersey, and continue to find fun in creative ways (which evidentaly includes paper hat couture) and never quite lost their aspirations to make videos and take pictures of ridiculous miscellany.

This installment of Video Chat Karaoke features a song by Tuscadero, a beloved group by both girls who unfortunately disbanded in 1999.  The song is called Nancy Drew and was recorded on December 31st, 2011 because Ryane and Sara like to get weird, watch The Twilight Zone, and sing (Ryane poorly, Sara nicely) karaoke to ring in a New Year.

Joining the ladies are Miguelito, a puppet who hails from Bryant Park in New York City who loves dancing, reading coloring books, and I guess running as the sweatband around his forehead would denote.  With him is his puppet sidekick, Tiny Chef who is kind of a jerk.

As part of our super fun Video Chat Karaoke series, we’d love to see our wonderful readers (that means you!) show us your stuff by sending in clips of you singing along to your favourite tunes.

Here’s Ryane and Sara working it to the Tuscadero track ‘Nancy Drew’ – we think they do a great job!
