I’ve been an Ellie Goulding fan for what seems like eons (but what’s actually since about early 2009, just before she signed to Polydor). I’ve reviewed her debut album, Lights, I was at her first US show in NYC a couple years back and I even got to chat with her earlier this year. What can I say? I’m a big fan. Because of this, I was super excited when I found out that music blogger Arjan Writes and HP had teamed up for ARTIST#TALK and that the lady herself was going to be sitting down to chat about her upcoming album, Halcyon, and music in general. More than that, though, Ellie wanted to give HG a shout out while she was there, and we couldn’t turn that down:
The event was a great success and made everyone that much more excited for the release of her sophomore album, Halcyon, which will be out on October 9 in the US (and one day earlier in the UK). I’ve been lucky enough to listen to the record in its entirety (roughly 100 times over – I can’t stop!) and it’s incredible. Ellie’s sound has matured and developed in the most fascinating way and is brilliant start to finish – this record is definitely an experience more than just a collection of songs. It’s dark, intense, sad but still hopeful and in the end, absolutely beautiful. It fills in the blanks left by Lights and then builds into completely new territory and oh man, you get the point. I love it, and you will too.
If you just can’t wait and want to get your hands on the real thing as opposed to a digital copy, you can pre-order both the standard and special deluxe editions on her website here.
