So here’s something awesome: 26-year-old Helene Meldahl is bringing Martha Stewart-level crafts straight to a smartphone near you. Though we’re all well-acquainted with the sometimes-diabolical selfie, Meldahl’s personal pics depict a magical universe rarely seen in a sea of Instagram faces. This lady doodles elaborate background set-pieces in the mirror before she snaps a shot.
Meldahl told MyModernNet that her selfies can take up to thirty minutes to concoct, and her favorite materials to use are “either chalk or acrylic markers.” Of her method, she says, “for me it kind of comes natural to draw.” Considering the fact that most of us (read: me) like to call ourselves an artist after upping the contrast on a particularly eloquent Insta-photo of a cat in repose, I’d have to agree: Meldahl has done something wildly creative with everyone’s new favorite medium. See for yourself:
Special props to the lady for cell-phone camouflage. Anyone who’s tried to take a furtive headshot in a restaurant bathroom knows that getting the iPhone out of the picture is no easy feat.
Though her imagination is mural-sized, Meldahl likes to doodle about love. . .
And MAGIC. . .
And magical wonderlands. . .
And, ahem, more specific kinds of love. . .
And anything else that pops into her mind. . .
