Cher Lloyd Debuts Sticks & StonesStephanie Barnes

Do you guys remember that confident, quirky 16 year old that wowed everyone with her performance of “Turn My Swag On” on X Factor UK? Yes, I’m talking about the sassy British bombshell Cher Lloyd. After finishing fourth on the show, Lloyd went on The X-Factor live tour. She performed for half a million people throughout the UK in 2011 and earned herself a legion of devoted fans that call themselves “brats”.  Simon Cowell must have seen incredible potential, because he signed her, and together they released her debut single, “Swagger Jagger”, in June 2011. Despite receiving negative reviews, the single entered at number one on the UK Singles Chart. Her debut album Sticks + Stones, which was released in November of the same year, peaked at number four in the UK Albums Chart.

In December 2011, Cher Lloyd signed a record deal with LA Reid’s Epic Records in the United States. On May 22nd 2012, Cher debuted her third single, “Want U Back”, in the US. To say the fans were hooked would be an understatement; the single quickly achieved platinum status for selling over a million copies. Months later, Lloyd released her debut US album on October 2nd. iTunes describes the album as “a fun and electro-tinged pop collection that finds Lloyd radiating charm with a bubbly mix of singing and rapping” and I couldn’t have said it better myself. The album is super fun and Cher’s saucy-sweet poppy sound is unlike any other.

My personal faves are “Want U Back”, “Grow Up” and “Beautiful People” – I would love to hear what you guys think! Check out the album and let me know your thoughts.

Cher Lloyd’s Sticks & Stones is available now on iTunes.
