Blumhouse of Horrors Corey Podell

When one of the HelloGiggles editors, Rebecca, asked me if I’d go to this haunted house thing in downtown Los Angeles because everyone else (including the very manly Duane Fernandez) were too scared to do it, I said of course, because I’M NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING!  Oops.

Blumhouse of Horrors is the creation of Jason Blum, the man who brought us Paranormal Activity, Insidious and Sinister (out October 12th).  Jason has transformed the Variety Arts Theater in downtown Los Angeles into a chillingly intense Halloween attraction with over 50 actors and almost 50 more people behind the scenes making sure everyone gets properly frightened.  With his movie production company team using their expertise in horror and storytelling, the haunted house isn’t for the faint of heart.  I was able to sit down with him after my tour to ask him some questions, and was surprised that the man behind this twisted experience didn’t look like a homicidal maniac, but rather someone who could be running on the beach in a J Crew catalog…

Was it scary? YES.  Was it really fun scary? YES YES YES.

They have tours everyday of the week through November 3rd, 6pm to midnight with the last 40 minute tour leaving at 11:15pm.
