Pet products are more popular than ever right now. You can share a sweet treat with your dog, or spoil your feline with adorable cat toys. What can we say? People love their furry friends and want to give them the best. The latest pet pampering trend? People are getting (non-toxic) manicures to match their pets, because…why not? Recently, a woman gave her pet turtle a manicure. And now, cats and dogs are getting in on the fun too. (Don’t worry, these manis are non-toxic!)
It all started with a teen named Cristi Hanzel. She tweeted a picture of her and her cat Wednesday (named after Wednesday Addams, of course!) sporting matching purple glitter nails.
Initially, the tweet didn’t get much attention. But when Twitter user @Necromancer_95 retweeted Hanzel’s pic with the caption “How I’m trying to be,” the tweet exploded. At the time of publication, it’s received over 2,000 likes and nearly 1,000 retweets. Hanzel has seriously started a movement!
Now, other Twitter users are jumping on board and sharing their own matching pet manicure pics. Hanzel has seriously started a movement!
Many of the pictures are of dogs, which isn’t particularly surprising, because well, we know how much dog owners treat their pets like their best friends.
And don’t best friends totally get matching manicures sometimes? Of course they do!
All together now: aww!
Hanzel explained her matching nails in an interview with BuzzFeed News. Apparently, she got the idea after getting her own nails done. So she went to Target to find nail caps for Wednesday’s little nails and found ones that were almost identical to the manicure she had just gotten. Obviously, it was fate!
“I’m obsessed with my cat so I was excited to go home and put them on her,” Hanzel explained.
Hanzel also explained that the nail caps she used on Wednesday are non-toxic, cautioning that regular nail polish is “toxic for your cat’s nails.” So with that little bit of info, go forth and a matching manicure with your pet!
