“They’ve been working independently for a few years now, but they ended up collaborating on a big project,” says Mary Selnak, a mutual friend who works in the floral business. “Apollo was great at big picture stuff and reaching high places. Athena could work on the small details and fit into the nooks that no one else can. They realized pretty quickly that they should go into business.”

This week marks the launch of their firm A&A Design, Ltd., along with a slew of branded home decor products exclusive to Target.

“With any luck, they’ll land an HGTV show by next summer,” says Selnak.

According to sources, Ted the duck has been ejected from yet another game of pickup basketball for playing too dirty. Ever the competitor, Ted has proven notorious on the basketball court for his overly aggressive style.

“We warned him beforehand to tone it down,” says teammate Anthony Marsh. “But around the second quarter, he started with the usual stuff. Throwing elbows, trash talking. Fouling on purpose. Someone had to take him out.”

The duck was swiftly directed to the sidelines, where he continued shouting at players.

“They had to hold him back,” says Marsh. “I’m all for being competitive, but Ted always takes it way too far. If he wants to play again, he’s going to have to learn to cool it.”

“Some of the sailors weren’t keen on taking orders from a cat,” says one source, who asked to be quoted anonymously for his own safety. “Admiral Jens made some unpopular decisions, and a few guys started talking about usurping his command. But the Admiral wouldn’t stand for it. He made an example of them pretty quickly. They’re all locked up in the brig now.”

The tactic worked. A corroborating source says that murmurs of mutiny have subsided completely, and everyone is back to work. Admiral Jens could not be reached for comment, but many consider this a victory for feline sailors everywhere.

“No one minds a little playfulness, but we were concerned,” says Molly Feinstein, a source close to the situation. “He was making funny faces at least once an hour, every single day. It was only a matter of time before one of them stuck.”

On Sunday morning, Bosley met his own reflection with a gasp.

“It was his ‘crazy puss’ face, and he could no longer turn it off,” says Feinstein. “He consulted a few doctors to see if it could be corrected. They all told him it should fade over the next few weeks.”

Bosley is reportedly minimizing his social and professional contact until then.

“Most cats would be a little freaked out to know they were radioactive,” says John Herling, a friend of the feline. “Not Bailey. He started making plans for the superhero lifestyle — a cool name, spandex costume, crime fighting gadgets — the works.”

Though his doctors stressed the seriousness of his condition, and that acquiring paranormal abilities is not the norm, Bailey was unfazed. It turns out his health is fine, and he did gain a super power. But not one from his wish list.

“He can become rainbow colored,” says Herling. “He can turn it off and on at will. It’s great for parties, but it doesn’t really help with crime fighting. He’s really bummed about it. He’s been moping around since last Tuesday when he found out. If you see a sad, furry rainbow in the corner, that’s probably him, sulking.”

According to reports, a family of dogs known as the Tennessee Mutts are still at large after robbing a local Petco. The career criminals and golden retrievers have become notorious in the greater Dallas area for their brazen thefts, mostly involving rawhide.

Witnesses say the dogs entered the store around noon, cleverly disguised as employees.

“I really didn’t think much of it at the time,” says Gina Rudd. “But then people started shouting, ‘Get those dogs!’ Apparently they’d taken all the rawhide. But they were just too quick.”

Authorities tell The Fluffington Post that the Mutts snatched around $500 worth of treats before driving off in a rented Ford F150.

“We’re telling everyone to be on the lookout,” says Deputy Sheriff Roy Hardwick. “If you see a family of golden retrievers randomly hanging out in the bed of a pickup truck, please contact the local authorities. Do not, and I repeat, do not Instagram it — you’ll only encourage them.”

“She is a huge fan of Garden State,” says her friend Carol Adams, referring to Braff’s last feature, released in 2004. “She saw someone post the Kickstarter on Facebook, and she got really excited.”

It was certain that Gracie would back the project, titled Wish I Was Here, but for how much?

“She started scrolling through the rewards section — a soundtrack, t-shirts, an advanced screening. Then, she saw it,” Adams explains. “The $10,000 level gets you a part in the movie!”

According to Adams, Gracie became so excited at the prospect of meeting Braff and being in one of his films, that she instantly went about making arrangements to sell her car.

“It’s not like she had $10,000 laying around,” says Adams. “But, she was able to sell her Ford Fiesta on Craigslist to scrape together the rest of it. Not the smartest financial move, but she’s young. I’m sure she’ll have a good time.”

“She just finished off the first draft last night,” confirmed Joel Turtledove, acquisitions editor at HarperCollins, which gave the kitten a $250,000 advance — unheard of for a memoir of a relatively obscure figure.

“We think she’ll play well in the growing ‘stuff about pets’ market,” said Turtledove, citing the recent mega-successes of Boo, Grumpy Cat and Lil Bub.

The manuscript will now go into editing, and HarperCollins expects to release the book this fall.
