Her story: Princess Diana hails from Paradise Island, home of the Amazon women, and the era is World War II-time. When Colonel Steve Trevor’s plane crashes there, Princess Diana is tasked with bringing him back to where he comes from, Washington DC.  And once she gets to DC, well, she ends up staying there, getting a job and working alongside the love of her new life, Steve Trevor and fighting crime. She really is a Wonder Woman.

WOMAN OF WONDER

I love superheroes, I really do. But I’d like to see more women super heroes on TV (I know, I know, Buffy and Xena, but what else?). That’s why I was so happy to see this show. It’s pro-woman! Wonder Woman is strong, independent, confident. She believes in women’s rights, and in bringing justice for women. She overpowers the sterotype of guys being stronger. You are always rooting for her and she is such a good-hearted person, and a total bad-ass at the same time.

GIRL POWER

Not only is she super-strong, Wonder Woman has a magic lasso that, when wrapped around a person, compels them to tell the truth. Wonder Woman has bulletproof bracelets that protect her from being shot. She rocks a superhero uniform and she pilots her very own invisible plane. She is a girl and she can do anything a boy can do; see where I’m going with this? Put all of that together and you have the feminist icon a girl my age can look at and go, “Now that’s a superhero!”

PARADISE IS PARADISE ISLAND

Wonder Woman comes from an all-woman inhabited island called Paradise Island. (Men are not allowed, not because it’s anti-men but because this island is specifically for the Amazon women.) The women are true warriors; they can kick butt! But that’s just part of what they can do; really, the Amazon women believe in sisterhood and peace, and harmony. And being supported by their community of women. I am so sure there is a zero-tolerance policy for mean girl behavior too.

OH BOY OH BOY

Wonder Woman does fall in love with Colonel Steve Trevor, but he is not the reason for her existence. Really Wonder Woman can live without him. And she’s taught me that I can do that too.

I was shocked, but also embarrassed about the language because this was another example of slut-shaming, which I really hate. We have to stop shaming girls for their choices. I’m just going to say it, ’cause we all have moments of hate. I hate it when my friends flirt with my crush, but my feelings stop there. I don’t attack another girl, and neither should you.

THE S WORD

I honestly hate the word “slut”. I’m in seventh grade and girls in my grade get called that word, particularly when they flirt. 1. None of us have had sex yet. 2. Flirting is no crime. The girls who are getting called sluts have not slept with anyone. They’re talking to boys, maybe laughing at their dumb jokes. Also, since when is it bad to have a lot of guys want you? If a girl has multiple boys with crushes on her, I want to know her secret. And, it’s a WHOLE different story.

WHY DOES THIS WORD EXIST?

The word “slut” should be taken out of our vocabulary. Period. Why would we call our peers something that shouldn’t be bad, but is? For some, it’s jealousy. But for others, what for? Also, it’s not your business. Why should you care what a girl is doing? Worry about yourself.

MIND YOUR MOUTH

We are all learning how to be ourselves. Stop judging each other. If you don’t get someone, don’t make drama for her. Just mind your business. Pay attention to what you’re doing, and make the choices that work for you. And stop, just stop, calling your girlfriends the S word.

Bottom line: Can we just stop shaming girls for what they do? Why can’t we just love each other and not call each other mean names? Next time you see a girl flirting or whatever she may be doing, think, “Good for her.” This is because you should be happy for your friend, not calling her mean things.

Well, here are 5 DON’TS to help you reign your love in.

KISSY FACES ARE OKAY, BUT MAKE IT COUNT

Kissy faces are ADORABLE, but sometimes it’s a little much. Try not to harass your beloved with “ILYSFM *kissy face kissy face kissy face*” more than ever. In fact, you should probably keep a count of how many times a day you’ve done it. And don’t make your limit a million. That’s cheating.

DON’T GET ANGRY IF SOMEONE COMMENTS ON HIS/HER PICTURE

Jealousy can exist in relationships. Don’t murder him or her if there is a “Lol” in the comments from anyone. And don’t start stalking the commenter. If you do any of this, stop. You are being an ick and nobody likes icks.

WHEN TOGETHER, DON’T OBSESSIVELY TAKE SELFIES TOGETHER

Don’t constantly take pictures together and share it with everyone (okay, this is an example of choking everyone else with your love). When together, enjoy your time. Live in the moment without documenting it. That’s annoying and boring. Chill out with the selfies. That’s what Snapchat is for.

DON’T GET ANGRY IF HE/SHE DOESN’T REPLY WITHIN 5 MINUTES

If he/she doesn’t respond, that’s okay. Don’t go all, “HELLLLLLOOO? HELLO? ARE U MAD AT ME?!!!!” Stop that.

DON’T ONLY TALK OVER SOCIAL MEDIA

If you obsessively text, but never talk, that has to change. That shows that one or the other isn’t making an effort. It’s cheating and the relationship won’t work. (A side note about Snapchat: do not spend your whole evening doing that. Use the phone, person.) Try talking more. Stop basing your life off of texting (said in old lady voice)!

So what’s this show all about?

Cameron: “Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous is basically about Zach Stone, [who plays] my older brother on the show. He graduates high school and he has no idea what he’s going to do with his life so he decides he’s going to spend his entire life savings trying to make a reality show about himself. I play Andy Stone, Zach’s younger brother. I’m the more athletic, straight A student. I’m basically Zach 2.0.”

I watched the trailer. It looks so funny.

“Thank you so much.”

I can tell Zach Stone is the misfit.

“Yeah, there’s a scene where Zach is in my room pretending all the trophies in my room are actually his and I walk in and I catch him and I basically kick him straight out of my room. I’m like, ‘What are you doing in my room?’”

What do you like most about working with Bo?

“Oh my gosh, there are so many things! Honestly, I would have to say my favorite thing is his improv skills and his comedic timing. Bo’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my entire life. I used to watch his YouTube videos before I even got on the show. I think he’s super funny.”

How did you get into acting?

“I’m from Kansas City, Missouri. My mom and brother were doing theatre. I started doing theater when I was younger and I really loved it. We filmed a Walmart commercial in Kansas City; I was an extra and I didn’t want to be an extra. I wanted to be on screen, and so we ended up moving from Kansas City to LA.

That’s SO much cooler than what I do.

“I wouldn’t say that! You don’t your like your job?”

Well, I don’t have a job. I’m 12 and I go to middle school so it’s not the best.

“Yeah, well you got to stay in school.”

So you’ve been on iCarly and A.N.T. Farm and lots of other stuff. What has been your favorite role so far, other than Andy Stone? 

“I was on this TV show called On The Lots. It was pretty much American Idol for filmmakers and they were making a horror film. And I had to play a kid who got bitten by an ankle biter and I had to work with blood and special effects and that was really fun.”

Okay, so what social media things are you addicted to?

“Oh man! I’m addicted to Twitter and Instagram equally. Do you use hashtags on Instagram?”

Yes, I use many hashtags!!

“I try to use as many as possible. Sometimes coming up with one is a little bit difficult.”

What do you do when you’re not acting or coming up with hashtags?

“In my free time, I really enjoy mixed martial arts: I train in boxing, kickboxing, Brazilian jujitsu. And I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to video games.”

Which games you like most?

“Probably Halo.”

Do you play Call of Duty?

“I do play Call of Duty a little bit; I play Black Ops.”

Oh, I have that one. It’s my favorite.

“Really? Do you have all the levels?”

I’m not very good at it but I’m trying to get better!  What’s Halo? I’ve never played it.

“You’ve never played Halo? My gosh! I kind of grew up playing Halo. I have two older brothers that just kind of got me hooked, I think.”

I know people who play video games for 8 hours straight and I’m like, how do you do that? I have so much homework, I don’t have that kind of time!

“I can’t say I’ve never done that! Well focus on homework, it’s more important than Halo, trust me.”

Back to Zach Stone. What’s your favorite thing about the show?

“My favorite thing about the show is probably all the craziness that happens. I mean, later on in the series, you have a lot of episodes that are just insane. You just have to wait and see.”

I’ve seen comedies being produced and everyone looks like they’re having so much fun.

“It is! It’s a blast. You have these moments on set where everyone starts laughing sometimes. And it’s just awesome to finally see the finished product and get to see what you actually do [get] put on the screen.”

Comedies are always the best things to watch.

“Well, good comedies!”

1. You can’t stop checking your phone.

Snapchat doesn’t ping your phone when you get a notification, like with Instagram (which I’m also obsessed with). With Snapchat, you have to check your phone to see if anyone has Snapchatted you in the last ten seconds. So, I’m constantly checking my phone, which drives my mom crazy. Anyway, if you keep glancing at your phone, you have a Snapchat obsession.

2. Whenever you’re with any friend, you take a selfie on Snapchat and send it to all your other friends.

So let’s say you’re hanging out with your friend and you’re both like, “What should we do?” The answer is obvs, I mean, duh. You both scream out, “Selfie time!”, strike a pose, snap and send it to all your Snapchat contacts. Do you do this? Of course you do, because you are mildly obsessed.

3. You obsessively retake all selfies until you get the perfect shot.

You have to take the perfect selfie to send. If it’s a bad selfie it can’t be sent. I mean, seriously. Snapchat is an art form, after all. Do you do this constantly? Yes? I knew it. You are obsessed.

4. You screenshot everything you get sent.

Do you screenshot all your friends pictures because you just can’t get enough? Well, my dear, you are obsessed. Also, don’t feel bad, everyone does it.

5. Your Snapchat is in your Instagram bio.

If this is so, do you really want some weirdo stalking your Instagram Snapchatting you? Take that out of your bio for you own safety! Don’t be THAT obsessed!

6. You are so obsessed with Snapchat that you delete the app and then re-download it a day later.

Um, yeah.

So, one other thing, and this is not about being obsessed: Remember that Snapchatting is for fun and not for being creepy. Got it? Okay, now go back to taking the perfect selfie.

But we still have six more reasons to say thank you to Amy. It’s all in the advice she gave to the graduating class of Harvard in May of 2011. Amy is really smart – not just book smart, real smart. And she knows how to give a commencement speech. “Just because you’re wicked smart doesn’t mean you’re better than me.” Because after all, this is an audience filled with uber-brainiacs.

1. Play Nice With Others

“All I can tell you today is what I’ve learned, what I’ve discovered as a person in this world and that is this: You can’t do it alone. As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people’s ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you. Spend a lot of time with them and it will change your life.” So Amy, thank you for this.

2. There Are Some Rules to Live By

Amy is, among other things, an improviser, and she tells the Harvard kids the following: “I learned some rules that I try to apply still today. Listen. Say yes. Live in the moment. Make sure you play with people who have your back.” Thank you, Amy.

3. You’re Not Alone

“You never know what is around the corner unless you peek. Hold someone’s hand while you do it. You will feel less scared.” I love this part of her speech. And it connects to the part before, of finding people that will have your back. If you can find them or even just the one person who will hold your hand, you can do anything.

4. Don’t Over-Promise

“Limit Your Always and Your Nevers.” I do this a lot. “I always blah blah blah” or “I will never blah blah blah.” And really? I should only use “never” when I mean it, not just all the time. Thank you, Amy.

5. Oh Hey, Mom.

“Would it kill you to be nicer to your parents?” Um, yeah. She’s right. So be nicer to your parents. Thank you, Amy.

6. You’re Not Alone, Part Two.

Amy comes back to being a team player in her final note to the Harvard Class. Why? Because as she points out in the earlier part of her speech, it’s pretty great to be around people you enjoy, people you can learn from, people you can trust. Amy believes that you don’t have to do everything by yourself and I love this. I just love it, it makes me feel like I can breathe a little. “When you feel scared hold someone’s hand and look into their eyes. And when you feel brave do the same thing. You are all here because you are smart and you are brave. And if you add kindness and the ability to change a tire you almost make up the perfect person.”
