Spring is finally here and it’s time to break out the new shoes! Learn how to add some jeweled flair to your flats with this sweet music video style DIY tutorial, on the cheap. For real—we got the shoes and earrings on bargain at Old Navy. We love how these turned out because they instantly brighten up any outfit, from a weekend uniform of jeans and a tee to a fancy wrap dress you could wear at work. Enjoy!

Materials You’ll Need!
Flats in a solid color (ours are from Old Navy)
E-6000 clear adhesive gel from a craft or hardware store
Jeweled earrings (ours are from Old Navy), but you can also use an old brooch or necklace
Stirring stick (steal one from Starbucks!) for applying glue
Cuticle cutters

Make It!
Step 1: Remove earring backs with cuticle cutters
Step 2: Line up jewels on flats as desired
Step 3: Glue on the jewels, but don’t use too much
Step 4: Push down firmly on jewels so the glue makes contact
Step 5: Let it dry, ideally overnight
Step 6: Wear and enjoy

Do you ever long for a simpler time when old-fashioned courting and manners still existed? Victoria Floethe, founder of The Desire Project, digs through her favorite book, The Technique of a Love Affair by Doris Langley Moore, which is all about how to get a man to fall in love with you…in 1928! It’s back in print and a bit outdated, but Victoria swears by its timeless code of seduction and dating etiquette tips. In summary? Get in the game, date a lot of dudes and always, always trade up. Read on for her modern take on the art of seduction!

Guile 1928: “Any woman with a sound working knowledge of all of the wiles of captivation will be able to attract and hold a man’s love.”

Modern translation: Don’t expect love just to happen to you. Get in the game!

Practice 1928: “The growth of deeper feeling will depend on your qualities and skill, attained by practice alone.”

Modern translation: Date a lot of dudes.

The Craft of the Pursuit 1928: “If you can show that one man has found you worthy of pursuit, you can very easily awake the interest of another.”

Modern translation: Don’t fall for the first man you meet. Trade up!

Types of Men to Avoid 1928: “Men whose prestige is so much greater than your own that you cannot hope to be at ease with them…men with whom, for one cause or another, you would always have to make the first advances to keep your love affair alive.”

Modern translation: Unattainable men and also gay guys. Totally oblivious men and stoners. Busy men who can’t get off their iPhones. Douchebags.

The One 1928: “Stagnant love is like stagnant water.”

Modern translation: Keep him on his toes and slightly insecure about you.

Prestige 1928: “Never remonstrate with a man whose desire is flagging. Cease to see him, cease to communicate with him, and if it is feasible, let a rumor or two be conveyed to him that you are seen with others carefree and pleasure-seeking. These measures will bring him back to your side if he has feeling for you, and if he has not, you are acquitted with dignity.”

Modern translation: Make him jealous by keeping busy. Don’t always be around.

Love Letters 1928: “Be careful how you write ardent love letters, even to a man from whom you receive them. Unless your letters are works of art, they may one day make you look ridiculous.”

Modern translation: Take it easy on the texting. When you send a message, make it easy breezy; not sappy.

Fashion 1928: “The vast majority of men, however good their natural taste, may know nothing more of a woman’s dress than it is flimsy and expensive, and the less it resembles their own, the more they like it. If you are dressed in the same style as most other women, but somewhat more sumptuously, he will think you smart and be proud of you. Originality and distinction merely renders him uncomfortable.”

Modern translation: Guys don’t care about your Jason Wu dress.

Flattery 1928: “No one is immune to a compliment. When he is with you, let him feel strong, courageous, generous and he will behave by a prince. If you show him you expect him to be a cad, then a cad he will be. Men will give you whatever you seem to ask of them. Ask much.”

Modern translation: Don’t act like a bitch and he won’t be a dick.

Marriage 1928: “Men will marry the sort of women they like to be seen about with. In fact, wanting to marry is often a synonym for wanting to be seen about with.”

Modern translation: Brand yourself marriage material by being fun to be with.

Being Good at Love Takes Practice 1928: “In conclusion, true lovers have undergone long processes of disappointment, disillusion, pursuit, rebuff, abandon, constraint, caprice. One who understand the architecture of the love affair can build a superior structure which houses love itself.”

Modern translation: Sometimes a broken heart is the best thing that can happen to you.

Want to fit in perfectly with the front-row fashionistas at New York Fashion Week? Writer Victoria Floethe of Look TV and The Desire Project is on task to show you the way.

How To Be a Fashion Snob:

The Proper Walk Perfect your strut, all while corresponding on your iPhone and clutching a huge bag.

“Dead-Face” Master that emotionless “dead-face,” revealing nothing. The only time you can show emotion is when someone posts a cute cat photo on Instagram.

Have An Assistant Get an assistant even if you are one; they’re the best accessories. Then make sure to continuously bother your assistant so she always knows her place and must question whether you love her or hate her at all times.

Know Your Designers Try to mention the right designers in conversation: Nicolas Ghesquière, Valentino, Consuelo Castiglioni. They’re always changing, so if you run out of names, just make one up.

Diet Just drink green juice and smoke. It’s better if you inhale. Go on a month-long cleanse every few months. Your assistant must always be on a cleanse.

Never Judge Never judge someone’s outfit out loud, even though you’re totally judging them. Just glance at their shoes.

How To Dress Dress like the Italians. The French. The British. The preppy Americans from Nantucket. Or just wear an insane fascinator hat.

Did we miss any tips? Do you know a fashion snob? Share horror stories below!

Comedienne Valentine Bureau and actress Daniella Pineda are tired of all the tourists coming to New York City and waiting in lines to do the same predictable activities. The travel books might tell you one thing, but the most foolproof way to navigate a new city is to simply ask a local for recommendations. Valentine and Daniella are cool city dwellers and dish on their must-see under the radar spots in this Real Girl’s Guide to NYC video on Look TV. None of that Time Square nonsense!

Guided Tour
Try The Beast for a boat tour (a speed boat to be exact) that goes from Hell’s Kitchen to the Statue of Liberty…all while blasting Metallica and handing out super soakers!

NYC Pizza
Skip the line at Grimaldi’s with all the out-of-towners and venture out to Roberta’s in Bushwick, Brooklyn for the most delicious pizza of your life. Bill and Hillary Clinton enjoy a pie here, and that’s good enough for us!

Pampering
Have a fancy event to attend or just want to feel like a rockstar for a day? Get your hair did at Drybar for the full VIP experience. They blow out your hair for $40, give you a head massage and a cappuccino, and frequently play Clueless on their TV screens. Win!

Clothing
Want to wear a dress of your dreams that you can’t afford? For a special night out on the town, skip the crowds on Madison Avenue and try Rent the Runway for that “wear it one time” dress.

Nightlife
Not everything happens in Rockefeller Center. To make some late-night memories, head downtown to the Meatpacking District. The Standard Hotel’s fancy Boom Boom Room bar has an incredible view of NYC’s West side. Cocktails can be a bit pricy, but are totally worth it for the people watching and view of the skyline.

Comedy
You don’t have to go to Caroline’s to see a great cheap chow. The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre has the best improv and sketch groups outside of Los Angeles and Chicago for $5 and a cheap bar.

Hotels
We don’t really know how to help you here. Everything is really way too expensive. Try to avoid NYC hotels and camp out on a friend’s couch. That’s the truth!

Have you ever been to NYC? What are your city tips and tricks? Tell us in the comments below or tweet us at @LookTV. Dig Daniella and Valentine? Watch more of their videos on Look TV.

So you’re a sucker for couture and high fashion but can’t afford to wear it year-round? Try out a runway-inspired nail design from our favorite nail art blogger Elizabeth Monson of MoveSlightly. In her new series Polished on Look TV, she offers genius DIY nail art tips to keep you looking artsy and on trend. First up? Raf Simons’ debut collection for Christian Dior at Paris Couture Week was the most highly anticipated runway show of the season, so Elizabeth has created a Dior floral print-inspired nail design, allowing you to wear couture all the time!
