Inventory is a project designed to feature strong, beautiful, creative and inspiring people who have an interesting story to tell. This series gives the HelloGiggles readers an inside and intimate look at the lives of the subjects, through everyday objects that hold importance and have meaning.

Rachel Antonoff is a New York-based designer whose aesthetic is girly, functional, beautiful, comfortable, colorful and basically everything you could ever want from fashion. Her collaboration with Bass is absolutely swoon worthy, and is a favorite among fashionistas and every day girls alike.

The first thing you notice about Rachel is how incredibly delicate she is. Tiny, even, and stunningly beautiful. Almost immediately after, you’ll be hit with her contagious enthusiasm. She’s full of smiles, hilarious jokes and is warm and kind and just plain fun to be around. She invited us into her space with open arms and was more than happy to share all of her unique and colorful odds and ends that she holds dear.

First of all, how would you describe your personal style?
My personal style revolves entirely around comfort. I LOVE COMFORT. As I type this I am working from home in cinch bottom sweatpants and my Birdie sweatshirt. I’m not saying I think everyone should run around in sweats, I just think comfy people are significantly more attractive (not to mention happier) than people who are clearly sacrificing comfort for fashion. I love dressing up, but most days I will be found in my very soft J Brand jeans and a collared shirt with a sweatshirt or sweater over it.

Two of my favorite things from the shoot were:
A. Girl Scout Handbook – tell me all about it, where is it from and what does it mean to you?
I found at a thrift store in Phoenix and loved it immediately. I have always wanted to do a scout-inspired collection. I love the classic Americana and Troop Beverly Hills implication! I also just thought the book was beautiful and I’m a sucker for pretty hardcover books.

B. Bunny headband, it’s awfully cute. Where did you get it? What’s your favorite memory wearing it?
So glad you liked it! The bunny headband actually means a lot to me. It was made by and belonged to my sister who passed away. Sorry to be a big bummer. I found it years ago and LOVED that she had made it. I’ve had it in the office for years and it feels really special to have it in there.

I love this Steel Train artwork, tell me about this photograph, when was it, where was it, what was it for? Is that you? Please tell me you still have those Docs?! Do you remember what you were thinking about? If not – take a guess.
I still have the Docs! I need to resurface those. I really love this art, too. It was for the cover of their last record, Steel Train. I was so honored to be a part of it. It was a really special shoot because we did it in my brother Jack’s childhood bedroom. All of that crap is actually his and was already in there! His room is like a museum of old, weird stuff. Our friend and great photographer Lindsey Byrnes took it. She also shot a lookbook of mine that we did in that same room. I actually do remember what I was thinking because it was fashion week and was the day after my show so I was completely exhausted. I was just thrilled the shoot involved me laying down.

You were using a pumpkin as a pin cushion, which is pretty neat. How did this start? Who gave you the porcupine pin? why?
My mom gave me the pumpkin, something she does every fall. I think someone just stuck a few pins in there during a fitting and it became a thing.

Let’s chat about your cheerleading trophy, what does it say on it? And, what’s your favorite cheerleading memory?
I am so proud of that thing even though everyone on the squad got one. It was basically a participation trophy. I think I love it so much because it is representative of a high school experience I actually didn’t have. I really sensationalize it.

On a somewhat-related note, how many times have you seen the movie Bring It On*?
*I’ve probably seen it 150 times.
Too many times. Too many.

How do you define success?
I define success in terms of happiness and personal comfort (not financial comfort).

Words to live by?
“When someone tells you who they are, believe them.” – Maya Angelou

You can follow Rachel on Twitter @RachelAntonoff.

You should also check out The Ally Coalition, which she started with the band Fun. with the purpose of inspiring people to take action for LGBTQ equality.

Inventory is a project designed to feature strong, beautiful, creative and inspiring people who have an interesting story to tell. This series gives the HelloGiggles readers an inside and intimate look at the lives of the subjects, through everyday objects that hold importance and have meaning.

I’m not sure what can possibly be said about Tavi Gevinson that you don’t already know, which is why this particular Inventory is one of my favorites. Tavi is obviously unbelievably smart, but moreover she’s generous, kind and level headed. We all love Rookie so much, and we’re so excited to share this installation of the series with you.

Can you tell me about your backpack, how long have you had it? Who gave it to you? What’s your favorite memory with your backpack?
I got it in Norway when I was very little. I used it in preschool and then found it again when I started high school and realized how perfectly it went with everything I own and now it goes with me everywhere. My favorite memory would be wearing it (with the badges on) to see Moonrise Kingdom on this past summer’s Rookie staff road trip, because I was dressed as Sam and my friend was Suzy.

How do you define success?
Satisfaction with both process and product, satisfaction regardless of public attention, appreciating positive attention without depending on it, ignoring negative attention that can’t help you, understanding that you are not entitled to an audience and your audience is not entitled to you.

You had a bunch of pipe cleaners in your purse- gold ones, silver ones… What do you make with them?
I had them with me when you saw me because I was braiding them in my hair for a couple outfits I wore on that trip to LA. The gold ones blended in with my hair color and created a secret glimmer! I love to use them for making crowns, too.

You travel with an assortment of notebooks and sketchbooks, does each one serve a specific purpose? Or do they each contain a series of random sketches and thoughts?
I think it’s nice to have different kinds of paper with you. Traveling with just a Moleskine is stressful in a silly way because they make you feel like everything you put in them has to be GENIUS. So I like to bring a cheaper book as well, usually, and loose leaf paper.

My journaling system used to be that each journal I went through had a different aesthetic. For a month (or however long it took me to use up that journal) I would be very specific about what types of pens I used, what colors I used, what clippings I pasted, what doodles I drew, my handwriting, etc. And I would usually also dress to match that aesthetic, and listen to that kind of music, hang out in different parts of the school or neighborhood, all over the course of that month or whatever. I haven’t done this in a while because at some point I stopped feeling the need to curate my experiences so carefully and I just wanted to be able to write. Now my journals are more mixed up. But it’s nice to look back and see a whole kind of movie play out as I’m reading about what was happening and imagining it all fitting together in this synesthetic way.

Witches, Bitches and Hos oil- what does it smell like? What does it do?
It’s a vanilla elixir. Three drops under the tongue every day. A woman named Dori Midnight makes them and I got mine from Otherwild, one of my favorite stores in LA.

What do you admire about Jay-Z?
How thoughtfully he considers his role as both an artist and someone with influence. How he doesn’t leave it all up to intuition, he also puts a lot of work and thought into what he’s creating. (The pages in Decoded where he goes line by line and explains a song that way are really great.) And his taste in women, of course.

Let’s talk about your Bass shoes by Rachel Antonoff, they’re brilliant. Rachel is a pretty neat person. What do you like about her designs?
Rachel said she started designing because she wanted to make the clothes she imagined herself wearing whenever she daydreamed about one of her crushes. I love that. I just really appreciate anything that is cute and makes you feel like a children’s book character and that comes from a pure desire to make lovely things.

Where is the most interesting place these shoes have been?
Inside a drugstore coin-operated rocket ship.

“Rookie Yearbook One” is quite an achievement on so many levels. How would you describe it?
Thank you so much! That’s very kind of you. I guess it’s sort of a yearbook, sort of a scrapbook, sort of…a recent article about it said it was like “inhaling a sleepover,” so I might just say that. With credit to the writer, Eva Wiseman.

Words to live by?
Lately I’ve found that I’ve been saying “This is how this is supposed to feel” to myself a lot. So I guess keep your expectations low and know that this was never meant to be easy and the world is huge and people are many and now is such a small moment in time so learn about science and let it put everything in perspective instead of making you feel insignificant. But also, be okay with feeling insignificant. And also, consider what every situation is truly about, even if it’s unpleasant. This requires a lot of energy, so sleep often and don’t waste time on dumb websites or with bad friends who make you feel lousy. Most importantly, don’t listen to me.

Inventory is a project designed to feature strong, beautiful, creative and inspiring people who have an interesting story to tell. This series gives the HelloGiggles readers an inside and intimate look at the lives of the subjects, through everyday objects that hold importance and have meaning.

Amanda de Cadenet is a renowned fashion and portrait photographer, television producer and host, as well as an inspiration to women across the globe. Her television show, The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet, featured some of the most groundbreaking interviews with women in 2012, including Arianna Huffington, Olivia Wilde and Miley Cyrus, just to name a few. You can see any episodes you may have missed online.

I LOVE your Leica camera. What is a memorable photograph you have made with this camera?
I’ve been a photographer for over 20 years, and my first camera was a Leica M6- growing up my dad collected vintage Leicas so I knew they were the best lenses. I bought my M6 from a photographer friend called Mario Sorrenti, it had a light leak so I had to tape it closed! I have taken so many memorable images with my Leica, I just couldn’t single one out.

Tell me about your necklace, what makes it so special to you?
It came from my friend Jennifer Meyer who is an amazing jewlery designer. It’s rare I find a contemporary piece that is unique, but I love this. Turquoise is classic as is the heart shape, and it works with everything and makes me happy when I look at it!

While I was photographing The Feminine Mistake you mentioned it changed your life. How so?
This book woke me up. It put into words what I had always known but not been able to articulate so clearly, which is that women must have their own life and income for our sense of safety, balance and to be able to make choices that come from truth and not fear. Once I read this book I set about focusing on my career in a whole new and dedicated way; The Conversation was born from reading this book.

What does Diane Arbus mean to you?
Everything! The first paycheck I earned I bought a print of hers and I was obsessed with her for many years. Milla Jovovich said in an interview she had read the Diane Arbus biography by Patricia Highsmith and it sounded so great- I bought it and was hooked. I took many lessons Diane learned and applied them to my interaction with my subjects.

Your red Marc Jacobs boots are incredible- where is the most interesting place these boots have been?
Well, that would be telling tales out of school!

Who painted the portrait of Ella?
Gretchen Ryan. She’s a wonderful artist and friend of mine. Check out her site, she blows me away.

You chose this caftan as your favorite article of clothing- who is it by?
Odd Molly- it’s the cosiest poncho ever. I’ve worn it for years and years!

I try to keep at least one camera on me at all times, and this Diana Baby 110 by Lomography has changed my life. I admit, I was getting lazy – Instagram is a fun format and a great way to capture and share images. So, unless I was traveling or out on a photo shoot, I relied on my iPhone. But then the Diana Baby 110 came into my life and now I can carry a film camera with me at all times! It’s tiny, you can put it in your pocket or throw it in a bag. The camera comes with a 24mm lens and a BONUS 12 mm wide angle lens. But most importantly, the images are stunning!

The 10 Golden Rules of Lomography:

1. Take your camera everywhere you go.
2. Use it anytime, day and night.
3. Lomography is not an interference in your life, but a part of it.
4. Try the shot from the hip.
5. Approach objects of your Lomographic desire as closely as possible.
6. “Don’t think” – William Firebrace
7. Be fast.
8. You don’t have to know beforehand what you’ve captured on film…
9. … and you don’t necessarily have to know afterwards either.
10. Don’t worry about any rules.

For the camera nerds out there, here are the specs:

Film Type: 110 film
Exposure area: 13mm x 13mm
Lenses: 24mm / 12 mm plastic lens
Focusing: free-focusing
Closest effective focusing area: 24mm lens: 1m – inf.; 12mm wide angle lens: 0.4m-inf.
Aperture: Single f/8
Shutter: N (1/100) & B(bulb)
View Finder: built-in
Tripod mount: no
Flash connection: PC-socket

Of course we all love 2 Broke Girls – our beloved Molls is a star staff writer. But even if we didn’t have that connection to the show, Beth Behrs’ endearing portrayal of a super-rich-girl-turned-normal-working-human is so endearing and spot on, we’d still be glued to the television every Monday night.

Beth is equally as endearing in real life, and was so kind to share her favorite things with HelloGiggles. She is such a genuine and kind person, and all the things she shared with us were so special. From doing important volunteer work with the Children of the Night organization to her passion for musicals, Beth is such an amazing person to be around, and an even better role model for girls everywhere.

Inventory is a project designed to feature strong, beautiful, creative and inspiring people who have an interesting story to tell. This series gives the HelloGiggles readers an inside and intimate look at the lives of the subjects, through everyday objects that hold importance and have meaning.

You might know Erika from her role as Julia Braverman Graham on Parenthood, or any of the amazing other roles she’s done. Case in point: Swimfan, Traffic, The Perfect Score, and just when you think she can’t get any cooler, she lends her voice to the hysterical Robot Chicken.

All that aside, Erika is down to earth and naturally gorgeous. She was so unbelievably kind and gracious, and most of all, she was really interesting and willing to share her favorite things with us.

Do you have any of the same “favorites” as Erika Christensen?
