When a group of artists living in New York found out that a small, family-owned, West Village bodega named Hercules Grocery was on the verge of closing, they did the most epic and lovely thing – bought out the entire store. Of course, they went on to post all the items online, for ridiculous prices ($75 for an orange lighter, inside of a plastic cube) in an attempt to “question our perceptions of value and celebrate the Art of Convenience”. But the main thing to take away from this is that people are still capable of doing awesome and incredible things for other human beings. And that’s pretty damn special.
