Yesterday was Tell a Fairytale Day, which got me thinking of some of the fantastic fiction I grew up reading. Although Disney has turned some classic tales into exceptional movies – The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog to name but a few – there are still some great fairytales out there which surely could be adapted in the way only Disney does best, right? We have compiled a list of some of the neglected stories in our poll below, but feel free to let us know in the comments which tall tale deserves the Disney treatment. So come on Disney, hear our prayers!

Would Gift of the Magi work here? If so, I pick that one.
The Princess in Disguise!
This link will take you to a version of the story and it is safe as far as I can tell

I think Goldilocks and the Three Bears done by Disney/Pixar could be fantastic!
Um, how long does a gal have to wait to see a 12 Dancing Princesses movie? Too damn long, Disney!
Oh god yes, we so need a 12 dancing princesses movie!!
the twelve dancing princesses!
Have you watched ‘once upon a time’ in incorporates so many fairytales in such a good way, although not quite with a disney twist

That show is amazing! <3
How about The Snow Queen or 12 Dancing Princess?
Don Bluth’s Thumbelina is beautifully done already.
completely agree with Liv! Don Bluth did a fantastic job with Thumbelina already. He also did the Swan Princess, which was a classic in my house growing up. Golidlocks would be interesting to see Disney-fied

Don Bluth’s Thumbelina is lovely! It doesn’t need the Disney do-over.
But a new version of Tom Thumb could be nice !
I’ve been saying for YEARS that Hansel and Gretel needs the Disney treatment!
Jack and the Beanstalk is actually coming out soon! It’s called Jack the Giant Killer
Perhaps Hansel & Gretel with a “keep yourself safe on the internet” message?
I’m a Disney die-hard but i actually love the non-Disney animated Swan Princess…its one of my favourites.
thank goodness I am not the only one! That movie is awesome. The duet at the beginning alone is the best.
I agree-The Swan Princess is one of my favorites and I don’t know if Disney could top it! C’mon Prince Derrek is happening!

I’m pretty sure it’s on the little mermaid dvd, they do have the little match girl as a short movie. No talking, just music, watching it breaks my hear even more then hearing my g-ma tell me the story.
