Queen of the Day Amy Poehler's Life Will Soon Be in Your Hands Parry Ernsberger

Oh, Amy Poehler. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I’m not actually going to count the ways, but I think we can all come up with at least one way we love her. I will tell you though, that I first fell in love with Amy when she had a small character arc on Arrested Development, where she played a certified seal salesperson and quickie wedding-wife to her now (real life) ex-husband (TEARS), Will Arnett. MORE TEARS.

So obviously, her time on the show is something I hope she writes about in her MEMOIR, which is currently untitled and set to be released next year. Her publisher, It Books (an imprint of HarperCollins), had this to say about what we can expect:

“[Poehler's] original twist on the conventional memoir will have universal appeal. An illustrated, non-linear diary full of humor and honesty and brimming with true stories, fictional anecdotes and life lessons, the book will be a unique and engaging experience from one of today’s most talented and beloved stars.”

If there’s one thing I love more than funny lady memoirs, it’s funny lady memoirs with ILLUSTRATIONS! Has anyone ever done that before? I can’t wait.

I kind of feel like I’m getting let in on some super special sleepover secrets when I read the memoirs of women like Tina Fey and Mindy Kaling. There’s a chance that it’s because I put on PJs, make some snacks, pour a glass of wine and giggle incessantly while I’m reading, but also because it’s just so incredibly inspiring to see how they got to where they are, in their own words. It’s like having my own little pocket mentor.

Oh god, you know what I just remembered? Her Christian Siriano skit on SNL. “Stephanie. I need to tell you something. You are a tranny who looks like a hot mess and not in a good way. You’re a tickety-tack, tranny hot mess, out of control, super-tranny from Transylvania … Who is not apologizing for it.”

GOLD. That woman makes gold with her words.

  1. That’s good news! :D I’m currently watching Parks & Recreation and she’s awesome.

  2. I can’t wait – I actually listened to Bossypants as an audiobook, which Tina Fey read herself, and it made it even more amazingly hilarious to hear it in her voice. I hope Amy does the same!

  3. This post – 100%. Lots of Will Arnett tears. Anytime Amy talks about her kids, I melt. She’s classy and crazy in an awesome way. Amy Poehler as “Kaitlin” on SNL will always be my favorite – “MONSTER HAND!”
