@shinyunicorn is hosting a playlist this week with some of the top board game commercials from her childhood.

Watch and see if you remember playing any of these nostalgic games.

  1. We would have totally been BFFs 15 years ago! 13 Dead End Drive was awesome – but mine was eventually held together with Duck Tape because every time you played it one of the pieces would break!

I also have memories of “Don’t Wake Daddy” — and some game where you couldn’t eat crackers in bed – but… now I’m thinking they may have just been the same game.

  2. OMG!! I remember most of these commercials! of course I remember them a little different for I saw them in spanish at the time.. and OMG I still have the hungry hippos!!! I think this playlist is genius! It brought all these memories that are now floating in my head :) and also I gotta say that I love what you’ve done to your hair (and I love your doggy! she is so cute!!)
thank you for posting this!! LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!!

  3. @Sandra- OMG, yes that was Tatyana Ali! She went by so fast…after the commercial I was like ‘that girl looked familiar’ but couldn’t figure it out. Thank you!

  4. I HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO SAY ABOUT ALL OF THESE OH MY GOD.

    1) Ome of my favourite Christmas memories is getting 13 Dead End Drive and my older cousins (who would have been in their 20s at the time) trying to help me set it up and spending the ENTIRE morning just frustrated with the whole thing. Once it was assembled they didn’t even want to play it with me, so I just kept triggering all the “deaths” for my own amusement.

    2) I also still have Ask Zandar. My mom considered it a “compromise” to my request for a Ouija board.

    3) Is that Tatyana Ali in the Babysitter’s Club commercial?!

    4) I will now be singing the Grape Escape song for the next three weeks, so thanks for that.

    5) I am a LITTLE bummed that Shark Attack didn’t make the list, only because it was my number one most coveted games as a child and I still hold a grudge against “Santa” for never getting it for me :(

  5. Oh my god my big brother had Fireball Island!!! It was kinda lame :(

  6. In the same line of the Babysitter’s Club game, there was a Sweet Valley High game — not sure how popular it was, but my friend and I played it ALL the time! lol

  7. The link doesn’t work. :’(
