3 Steps To A Successful Thanksgiving BreakHelloGiggles Team

The work week is long – too long. Approximately five days too long. No, I kid! While we all have to earn a living and put in some time at our offices, schools, etc, there’s nothing better than a well deserved break. I will be spending my Thanksgiving break getting that all-too-necessary R&R, and I suggest you do the same!

1. Take a hot bath

Due to time crunches or maybe just being too lazy to clean the tub, I usually take showers rather than baths. I mean, what working girl has the time? You do… at least for now!  Treat yourself to a warm bath and some pumpkin harvest scented candles. It is probably my best way to spend an evening, especially as the weather gets cooler.

2. Make an adult beverage

The holidays are all about family and well, being merry. If you’re of legal drinking age, being merry might include a few alcoholic drinks. But why settle for a boring pinot grigio when you could get really fancy and do your best Mad Men impression by making a fancy (but easy) cocktail? I’m about to hook you up – it’s made with Fizz56, Terlato’s sparkling red Italian wine made of 100% Brachetto that’s also damn good. Get to the kitchen to make this drink – the Fizztini – immediately. You can even play bartender and make them for the whole family!

  • 1 part black cherry vodka
  • 2 parts Fizz56
  • 2 lime wedges

Shake the vodka and the juice from the lime wedges and pour into a chilled martini glass. Top off with the Fizz56 and you’re off. You’ll be a regular Joan Holloway in no time!

3. Comfy pajamas and terrible TV

“Terrible” is relative – this can be something that most people think is awful (like America’s Next Top Model or something) but is actually pretty amazing. Veg out. Turn your brain off. Find yourself repeating Tyra’s lines word for word: ‘I have two girls in front of me and only one picture in my hand…’ You get the drift. Sometimes you just have to stop critical thinking and learn how to chill.

I can’t wait for Thanksgiving break! What will you be doing?
