Not to be the bearer of bad news, but. . .you guys. Nutella is in trouble. The luxuriously creamy chocolate-hazelnut spread we use to make bananas and toast taste infinitely better is now going to cost us at least twice as much because of a low hazelnut crop yield in Turkey. According to Mic, Turkey supplies about 70 percent of the entire world’s hazelnut inventory. Due to bad weather, Turkey’s hazelnut crops have not produced nearly enough to satisfy our universal Nutella obsession (each jar contains 50 hazelnuts!).
Since it’s completely understandable to run to the grocery store right this minute and grab ALL the Nutella jars on the shelf (I already did, so no judgment from me), we thought it would be fun to inspire some Nutella-licious creations. Because who knows when we’ll be able to indulge like this again?
1. Nutella crescents
Recipe from: The Novice Chef
Not only are these state-of-the-art pastries, but they LOOK super impressive, right? Make these French-inspired crescents easily with pre-made pie dough, Nutella, sugar, and butter (obviously).
2. Coffee Nutella macaroons
Recipe from: Design. Bake. Run
If you’re up for a little challenge, these dainty and absolutely adorable macaroons are worth every teaspoon of sugar and time spent channeling Julia Child. The espresso intensifies the chocolate notes, so you’ll feel like you’re drinking a Nutella latte. And that’s absolutely amazing.
3. Banana and Nutella-stuffed French Toast
Recipe from: Just a Taste
Want to emulate your favorite brunch spot? This french toast recipe is super easy, super delicious, and WAY filling. Make this on a Sunday morning and spend the rest of your day digesting perfection and reading a good book.
4. Chewy Nutella brownies
Recipe from: Finding Silver Linings
You might want a tall glass of milk with one of these bad boys, because all this chocolate will make you infinitely thirsty. For more Nutella.
5. Nutella twists
Recipes from: Cannella Vita
Think of this as the chocolate crescent’s fancy cousin. Similar ingredients, different layout. Slightly softer, and reminiscent of Monkey Bread, these Nutella twists are the perfect indulgent breakfast (or lunch, or dinner, or. . just whenever).
6. Nutella peanut butter cup mousse (in a jar)
Recipe from: Mason Jar Love
Think of this as Next Level Nutella Pudding. Layered with a peanut butter crust, Nutella mousse filling, and a Cool Whip topping, I cannot find one single not-absolutely-divine aspect about this jar of awesome.
7. Nutella s’mores bars
Recipe from: Chef in Training
Just because summer is coming to an end, doesn’t mean you have to toss your boxes of graham crackers and bags of marshmallows. Long live the s’more!
