Welcome to another edition of my series 10 [Remember MySpace?] Survey Questions With…!
This week, our willing participant is the fantastic RJ Mitte. You know him from his role playing Walter Jr. in the Emmy-winning, critically acclaimed AMC drama currently in its fifth season, Breaking Bad. If you’ve never seen Breaking Bad, get thee to a television! But here’s the backstory: RJ’s TV-dad Walter [played by Bryan Cranston] is a high school chemistry-teacher-turned-meth-lab genius who, diagnosed with terminal cancer, must ensure financial security for his family after his impending death. Mitte’s character, Walter Jr., is a smart-mouthed, risk-taking teenager who – like RJ, himself has cerebral palsy (though his own is a milder case).
Beyond his contribution to the hugely popular show, RJ is a spokesman for I AM PWD [Inclusion in the Arts and Media of Performers With Disabilities], focusing on providing access and inclusion for people with disabilities while ensuring an accurate portrayal of characters with disabilities. He was recently named the Celebrity Youth Ambassador for the United Cerebral Palsy organization and is Youth Spokesperson for the National Disability Institute’s Real Economic Impact Tour (which focuses on improving the financial situation of low-income persons with disabilities). Additionally, RJ has become vocal about the prevention of bullying, lending his time and talents as a featured guest speaker in anti-bullying town hall discussions and as a part of a national campaign for PACER‘s National Center for Bullying Prevention. He can also be seen in the upcoming fantasy-thriller feature House of Last Things. You can follow RJ on Twitter at @RJMitte.
The consummate overachiever, RJ answered all 13 of the questions I sent through. Read his answers and check out Breaking Bad, Sunday nights at 10 P.M. on AMC:
