At some point over the summer, I may or may not know the date (ok, fine, it was June 17, 2012) I became completely obsessed with AMC’s hit show The Walking Dead. It was a very organically-grown obsession. Organic, as in, I watched Season 1, Episode 1 and basically continued to watch an episode in what averaged out to be every 1.5 hours over the course of the next three days. In a few short days, I’d successfully cultivated a pretty serious addiction.
It was in the second episode of the second season (aka “Bloodletting”) where we – the viewers on the edge of our seats – were first introduced to the lovely Lauren Cohan who plays Dr. Hirshel Greene’s daughter, Maggie (though you may also recognize her from her previous work from her roles on The Vampire Diaries, Chuck or Supernatural).
Lauren Cohan makes Maggie Greene one bad-ass, Zombie-slaying farm girl. I’d tell you all about the amazing things she’s done, but then this post would become one giant spoiler (and that’s how you lose friends, guys).
What I will say: if you don’t already obsess over The Walking Dead like I do, get thee to Amazon or iTunes ASAP, catch up on the first two seasons and then slide right into the third, happening right now, people. There’s still time. It’s not too late.
I mean, if I were to be completely honest, if someone had said, “Hey, so there’s this show about Zombies you should watch!”, normally I’d tune out – I’m not a big Zombie-genre fan. But! Not a week goes by that I don’t watch it. In fact, as I recently told a friend: “The first 30 minutes of the show is fantastic, the next 30 minutes just as amazing and yet, accompanied with a sense of intense anxiety that in less than half an hour you will have to wait 7 more days for the next new episode.”
Plus, I feel as though the show has adequately prepared me for any impending Zombie Apocalypses that I intend to survive. So, that’s a plus.
