10 Reasons To Love Emma Stone Right Now (And Forever) Tyler Vendetti

When Emma Stone made her debut in Greg Mottola’s Superbad back in 2007, I mistakenly wrote her off as another minor character that would fade away after the film’s initial buzz died. I never thought I would be so happy to be so wrong. Since her role as Jules, Stone has exploded onto the Hollywood scene, earning screen time in summer classics like Zombieland and Crazy, Stupid, Love. With her quirky personality and elegance, she has quickly become the new Rom-Com queen, beating out other red-headed contenders like Amy Adams and Drew Barrymore. What other reasons are there to love Emma Stone? Funny you should ask.

1) She’s genuine.

According to past classmates and coworkers, Emma is a delight both on and off screen, always admitting her faults and quirks. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, for example, the actress confessed to having a secret Pinterest board filled with inspirational quotes as well as a fascination with young mom bloggers. We can all sleep soundly knowing Emma indulges in weird Internet trends like the rest of us.

2) She’s a red-head.

In 1951, Lucille Ball showed the world how to wield one’s red-headed powers for good, a mission that Emma Stone has pursued in recent years. Now, I know she’s not a natural red-head (according to interviews, she was born blonde), but the color looks so natural on her, it makes me want to dye my hair red, panic at the newness of my reflection, and quickly revert back to the chestnut brown I know and love.

3) She’s anti-gossip.

In an interview with New York Magazine, Stone revealed how she has tried to eliminate negative gossip from her life, choosing, instead, to have positive discussions about women. At one point, she asks: “Have you ever done that? Just all sat around a table saying nice things about one person? It was the greatest thing. You walk away, and you were just like, that felt so good, to talk about how wonderful someone is.” That’s a philosophy I can get behind.

4) She thinks body-shaming is ridiculous.

Fellow HelloGiggles writer Laura Donovan recently wrote about Emma Stone’s crusade against body-shaming, and it’s eye-opening to see how often she is criticized for her figure and how she feels about it. She explains: “I firmly believe that nothing really affects you or can really bother you if you don’t already feel that way about yourself. I’ve seen a lot of comments that say, ‘Eat a sandwich’ or ‘She looks sick.’ I’ve been looking at myself in the mirror being mean to myself. I’m not sick. I eat sandwiches.”

5) That girl can lip-sync.

A few weeks ago, Jimmy Fallon challenged Emma Stone to a lip-syncing contest. A few weeks ago, Emma Stone became my favorite person on the planet. Here’s why.

6) She can also actually sing.

Emma’s musical number in Easy A was not dubbed by some voice actress; the sound that comes out is all her own. Before landing her role as Jules in Superbad, Emma (whose real name is Emily Stone) appeared on VH1’s reality show, In Search of the Partridge Family. She even won the competition, though she never got the chance to claim her prize (the lead role in a Partridge TV series) because VH1 cut the show before it could be produced. Luckily we have this clip of Emma singing as a wee lass:

7) She’s not afraid to be goofy.

You know how people say “You have the perfect recording voice” or “You have the perfect look for film”? Well Emma Stone has the perfect face for GIFs. Her facial expressions are unparalleled and shamelessly goofy, and it’s a quality I seek to emulate in all of my Snapchats.

I mean, seriously.
