What would the world be like if *NSync never broke up or Destiny’s Child stayed together forever? If we still had The Backstreet Boys today, would we still call them The Backstreet Boys, or would they have grown out of that and preferred to be called something more grown up? If you are anything like me, then I’m sure these are the types of concerns that plague you every single day.
Unfortunately, we’ll never know the answers to these pressing questions, but we can dream, can’t we? Perhaps these bands had to break up to prove to us that all good things must come to an end. I know my 9-year-old self grew up when The Spice Girls broke up. Who were some of your favorite bands that broke up too soon?
I saw New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys last summer! They are together and still awesome. I feel a little like you wrote this as a joke to demean the people who genuinely like these bands.

While I miss LFO as well I think a reunion is out of the question due to the fact that Rich Cronin died of leukemia. May he rest in peace.
Um yeah…while I appreciate the gist of the article, about half of these bands either never broke up or have gotten back together…and I’m still obsessed with BSB and am thrilled that they’ve managed to stay together for all these years.
… I also taped the entire series of “Making the Band” and was OBSESSED with O-Town. Loved Trevor. If they had a reunion I would die of happiness.
Omg, O-Town…I had the entire series of “Making the band” on tape – me and my best mate used to do MTB weekends watching every episode back to back. Gotta admit I still miss them a little, still really like their stuff.

Yeah. So Backstreet’s back. Well, they never really went anywhere or broke up either. So they’re still the same BSB I loved when I was in middle school. Just a bit older and naughtier.

The Backstreet Boys never broke up. Kevin left the band but now is back. They’ve been touring non-stop practically since 2005 and have put out three studio albums since the Black and Blue album in the early 2000s. That doesn’t hardly seem like breaking up to me. Clearly I love the Backstreet Boys just as I did in 1998.
But LFO. I wish they would get back together but alas they can’t. RIP Rich!
Interesting to see that at most of those bands there is at least one musician left doing solo projects.
The spice girls are together too. They just performed at the Olympics.
NKOTB, BSB and No Doubt are all still together….
